Electric Pressure Washer Training

This training is required in order to check out a pressure washer from the Tacoma Tool Library. We will ask you to watch the video and read and agree to this agreement when you check out a pressure washer for the first time.

Electric pressure washers are right for LIGHT-TO-MEDIUM-DUTY cleaning.

DO NOT RUN PRESSURE WASHER DRY. ALWAYS TURN ON THE WATER BEFORE YOU START THE MACHINE.

Before use

  1. Make sure the water strainer is in place and free of debris.
  2. Run water through hose to clean out any debris
  3. Connect the garden hose to the washer and the other end of the garden hose to the water supply.
  4. Connect the high-pressure hose to the water outlet on the washer and the other end to the washer gun.
  5. Select the right tip for the job and install it onto wand. Watch this video to learn more about colored spray nozzle 6 Pressure Washer Nozzles Explained (Starting at 1:17)
    1. RED – use for tough stains
    2. YELLOW – use for concrete, brick and stone
    3. GREEN – use for siding and decks
    4. WHITE – use for windows
    5. BLACK – use with soap
  6. Purge the system of excess air by squeezing the trigger on the washer gun.
  7. Turn on the water.
  8. Plug in the pressure washer and set the GFCI.
  9. Turn the motor on.

After use

  1. Turn off the motor and release the pressure by squeezing the trigger on the washer gun.
  2. Turn off the water.
  3. Disconnect the high-pressure hose from the washer unit and gun.
  4. Disconnect the garden hose.
  5. Remove water from the hoses.

To use detergent

Submerge the clear kick up hose in the bottle of detergent or fill detergent container connected to washer. Use detergent specifically for pressure washers, not just Dawn. And put on the low pressure BLACK detergent tip. Always use low pressure with detergent.

Safety

Wear safety glasses and closed toes shoes. Protect yourself from direct spray.
